Serviceline invests in new facility

Serviceline is delighted to announce that we have moved to larger, purpose-built premises. Our new address is Serviceline, 1 Iceni Court, Icknield Way, Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire, SG6 1TN.

Speaking about the move Martin Carder, Serviceline General Manager, said:

Serviceline has been based in Hertfordshire for 30 years since the company first began in 1989 and we are pleased to continue our long-standing presence within the county having signed a long-term lease for our new headquarters in Letchworth Garden City.

The move follows a significant, six-figure, investment from Ali Group s.r.l. Our new home in Letchworth Garden City provides us with a far more modern space, allowing the company to expand in line with our growth targets and provide even more support to both our nationwide engineering workforce and ever-growing customer base.”

The new facility has been designed with our business process in mind, featuring a show kitchen which includes the latest AFE Group Ltd products from Falcon Foodservice Equipment & Williams Refrigeration plus dedicated space for our Service Support Centre.

Speaking about the business plans for the future Martin Carder stated:

The move represents the continuation of a new chapter for the business, as we strive to modernise the Serviceline brand.

So far in 2019, as we celebrate our 30th year, we have introduced updated company branding of our new Mercedes van fleet and redesigned engineer uniforms. The new facility complements these changes and aligns all elements of the business with our vision for the future of Serviceline.”

Hidden Kitchen Costs – Damaged Door Seals

Damaged door seals cost energy. Photo of Williams Jade J2 refrigeratior operating efficiently.

Checked your fridge door seals lately? With increased temperatures, damaged door seals cost energy and furthermore affect the proper operation of your refrigerator. Improperly sealing door seals mean equipment takes longer to cool food to the correct temperature. Not only using more energy but additionally working the compressor harder, increasing its chance of failure. If your door seal has cuts or splits in it or does not properly fit in the guide then it is time to replace it. Seals are easily replaced and our parts department can quickly identify the seal you require.

No maintenance plan in place? No problem.

It’s estimated that there are over 5 million commercial kitchen & refrigeration units within the UK and faults can occur at any time.

A Serviceline preventative maintenance contract not only reduces overall kitchen costs but it also provides our partners with priority engineer access. On the other hand, we also understand that some customers choose to deal with us reactively, utilising our nationwide network of 120 engineers available 7 days a week when a breakdown occurs.

Serviceline named Service & Maintenance Specialist 2018

Serviceline is delighted to announce that we have been named Service and Maintenance Specialist 2018 at the inaugural FEJ Awards.

Held at the Hilton Metropole, Birmingham, 5th June 2018 the FEJ (Foodservice Equipment Journal) Awards 2018 are unique with the awards themselves voted for entirely by kitchen operators and chefs throughout the industry.

This award recognises the service and maintenance providers that come to the rescue when it’s most needed. Whether it’s efficiently carrying out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schemes or ensuring high first-time fix rates, such organisations are the unsung heroes of the kitchen industry.

Serviceline were shortlisted following a reorganisation of the back-office operations last year, which had the desired effect of realigning the business with its core values. One of these values includes supporting a wide range of vendor-neutral catering and refrigeration equipment via our national team of directly-employed engineers.

Fresh investment and new senior management expertise have led to a new service centre being created to speed up phone and email responses, while engineers have been repositioned into more locally-based service groups to ensure that whoever visits a site can respond more quickly with prior knowledge of the equipment portfolio.

Serviceline also successfully brought the Dawson field service team into its operation, integrating all Dawson maintenance accounts into its service management system to ensure a seamless transition.

Speaking about the event Graham Skinner, sales and marketing director said: Winning an award in this fashion shows that the dedication, hard work and customer service provided by our internal teams, coupled with the high standard and quality of work completed by our engineers in the field, goes a long way and is appreciated by our customers, leaving a lasting impression.”

Other finalists of the award included:

  • BBCS
  • Cystaltech
  • JLA Group
  • Marren Group

Gas Safety Week: Fighting for a Gas Safe nation

6 simple checks to help ensure your kitchen is a gas safe environment

Serviceline are proud to be supporting Gas Safety Week 2017,  18th – 24th September. Gas Safety Week is an annual safety week to raise awareness of gas safety and signifies the importance of taking care of your gas appliances. It is co-ordinated by Gas Safe Register, the official list of gas engineers who are legally allowed to work on gas appliances in UK.

Every year thousands of people across the UK are diagnosed with carbon monoxide poisoning, a consequence of over exposure to this highly poisonous gas. You can’t see it, taste it or smell it, but it can kill quickly and with no warning.

Badly installed and poorly serviced gas appliances can cause gas leaks, fires, explosions and carbon monoxide poisoning. Within the catering and hospitality sector gas safety is of the utmost importance, below are 6 checks to help ensure your kitchen is a gas safe environment.
